Black History Month Celebration at Union Station Kicks Off With

Exhibition by

Local Artist, Dorothy Hawkins Gray

 

“Revelation of a Dream”

Echo Gallery at Union Station will present the work of acclaimed local artist, Dorothy Hawkins Gray during its 5th Annual Black History Month celebration.  The exhibit entitled, “Revelation of a Dream” is taken from her 1986 mural of Dr. King’s I Have A Dream Speech.  Her mural along with many of her other works will be on exhibit in the West Hall of Union Station for the entire month of February.  Dorothy is a native Washingtonian with an exciting portfolio of work inspired by great leaders, sports figures and her own struggles for survival.  She has also presented portraits to Presidents Clinton and Gore as their guest at the White House.  The exhibit will include:  Image of Diana, a collage of images of the late Princess of Whales; several Redskin football paintings; and portraits of President Clinton, Vice President Gore and former First Lady, Barbara Bush.  The exhibit opens on Friday, February 1st at 10a.m.

Doll Makers from the Washington Metropolitan area and Africa will exhibit some of the finest collectible dolls available on the east coast.  Doll collectors from all over the country will share in the festivities to begin, build and expand their doll collections and celebrate this increasingly popular black artistic expression.
